The Tarleton Texans are 18-0 for the first time in school history. The undefeated opening to the season is the longest opening streak as well as longest ever streak in the history of the university. The streak continued against Texas A&M University-Commerce with a final score of 84-71.

The final score indicates a closer game than it actually was as Tarleton enjoyed a double-digit lead for a majority of the game. The Texans got to make history in front of a sold out crown in Wisdom Gym and they put on a show for everyone who came out.

Mabry went a perfect 6-6 from the field on the way to his 14 points while also retrieving a game high 8 rebounds for the Texans.

The Texans were only up 15-11 with 14:20 left in the first half but after going on a run, the team never looked back. Tarleton took a 45-33 lead into the locker room at halftime and did not cool off there. They opened the second half on an 8-0 run and the route was on. The team had a 26 point lead with just under ten minutes to play and the Lions could never get close.

The Texans shot 47.8% on the night and the percentage was helped with a few very impressive dunks in the second half. The team looks to improve on their historic streak this Wednesday, Feb. 5 against Midwestern State at 8 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
