Lambda Chi hosts annual ‘Dream Date’ event
By Kerbie Anderson –
Lambda Chi Alpha’s annual Dream Date event Tuesday evening resulted in 80 pounds of canned foods and $2,000 for the North American Food Drive.
Social chair Joey Wilson said Dream Date is “a philanthropy event where the men of Lambda Chi Alpha auction themselves off to girls to go on a date of their dreams.”
This tradition has been done at Tarleton since the 1990s. The auction was located in the ballroom of the Tarleton Student Center. Students showed their support by attending the event, and some participated in the bidding.
All the proceeds from the event went to the North American Food Drive. Wilson said the average price for dates is around $80, with some as high as $230.
This year’s proceeds were less than last year’s. Some dates went for as low as $15, with one outstanding date that went for $275.
Lambda Chi Alpha also hosts Trick-or-Treat for canned goods, Watermelon Bash, and a hotdog eating contest to help raise more proceeds for the NAFD.
