Meet the TNS Staff
Katelyn Rivera, Texan TV Executive Producer
Katelyn Rivera serves as our executive producer here at Texan TV News. From San Antonio, Rivera initially wanted to cheer at Tarleton State University, so she applied and was accepted. She started as a psychology major, but after realizing she didn’t enjoy what she was doing, she decided to make a switch.
Broadcasting is something that Rivera had always been interested in, but it wasn’t until she made the change to a communications major with an emphasis in broadcast journalism that she realized it was something she would want to pursue as a career.
Rivera graduates in May and plans to travel as she can soon after. Career-wise, she aspires to be a host on a lifestyle show.
Rivera started with Texan News Service in January of 2018 as the Associate Producer for Texan TV. The possibility of gaining more “real world” experience in the field she wants to go into is what drew her to TNS. She said that her favorite part of working for TNS is that “it has given me a lot of experience, opportunities and people to network with.” Her favorite aspect of working for TNS is having the opportunity to create content and see her ideas come to life.
One piece of advice Rivera has followed throughout her time at TNS and offers to anyone looking to work for TNS or go into the broadcasting field is “get out of your comfort zone and try new things. It is going to work out at some point.”
