The TexAnns continued their Family Weekend win streak with a sweep against The University of Texas at Permian Basin Saturday afternoon. In a match between the TexAnns and the Lady Falcons, Tarleton State University crushed the competition with a 3-0 win.
The TexAnns battled hard against UTPB during the first set but quickly took control of the game as Hailey Roberts, Hannah McManus and Amber Strange delivered back-to-back kills. Tarleton refused to let up as the Lady Falcons trailed further and further behind. Rounding down to the last point of the set, Jordyn Keamo fired the crowd up with a powerful ace resulting in a 25-9 set.
Roberts and McManus displayed their strength as they landed multiple kills in the second set, but UTPB continued to fight to take control of the game. Despite their efforts, UTPB trailed behind on the score board by only two points in three separate occasions.
As the second set went back and forth, the crowd jumped and exclaimed as Roberts took the lead and landed a kill.
During the final set, Adriana Darthuy made her presence known on the court with continuous blocks and attacks on UTPB and Tarleton took the reins once more. Darthuy landed several kills in the set and gained the lead for Tarleton.
Unable to break Tarleton’s serves, UTPB fell behind and The TexAnns took advantage. Darthuy dished out a 6-0 run as her score rounded double digits for The TexAnns. Tarleton clinched the win with a kill by Alexis Applewhite, confirming The TexAnns seventh sweep of the season.
The TexAnns will hit the road September 29th to San Antonio to face Lubbock Christian University again at 1 p.m. and St. Mary’s University at 4 p.m. Both games will take place at Bill Greehey Arena.
