April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a month surrounding the awareness of sexual violence and how to prevent it. Throughout the month, Tarleton will be hosting events in support of spreading awareness to the Tarleton Community.
Teal Tuesdays will be April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to wear the color teal as an attention-grabber, conversation starter and invitation to chat about sexual assault awareness.
Today, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., a SAAM Kickoff will be held at the TSC Dining Patio, where you can learn more about sexual violence, grab freebies, snap photos and learn to be part of the solution.
April 9, guest speaker CL Lindsey presents “Sex and the Law”, addressing consent, sexting, STD transmission, voyeurism and more. The event, sponsored by Student Involvement and Family Relations, will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the TSC Ballrooms.
A Stop the Silence event will be held April 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cowboy Capital Plaza, where attendees can hear locals speak up for survivors. This event is sponsored by the Erath County agencies serving victims of violence.
