The Dean of Students Administrative Office hosted an event in the Thompson Student Center for Positive Thinking Day.

Positive Thinking Day is celebrated on Sept. 13 each year. It is an opportunity to see the positive side of situations.

They added a fun twist and hosted a Positivi-TEA event where they served refreshments and met with students. In total, they gave away 100 glasses of Chick-fil-A tea and lemonade.

During the event, graduate assistants of the Dean of Students Administrative Office plus a student worker spread positivity through words, buttons, pamphlets and positive messages.

To receive a beverage, students were required to write something kind on a blank cup. In return, that student received a cup written on by another student.

Messages included “You are a light in someone’s world.” and “Everything’s better when you’re here.”

The event was put on by two graduate assistants for the Dean of Students Administrative Office, Kelley Beeler and Margaret Tippie.

Jai Glass, a student worker for the counseling services at Tarleton, also helped at the event.

“You matter, that’s all I’m going to say; that’s enough, you’re enough, your life matters,” Glass said. “Be here, be present.”

The Student Counseling Services at Tarleton partnered with the Dean of Students Administrative Office. They offered free t-shirts, hand sanitizer, face wash and sunscreen.

“I think my favorite thing with positive thinking day is the twist that we are putting on it with the Positivi-TEA and doing the tea, but also making it that interactive experience with the students where they have to be the one to give that positivity to somebody else because it is kind of just a negative time,” Beeler said. “It’s the beginning of the semester and everyone is kind of down, it’s new, they don’t want to come back to classes and so it’s a good way to put inspiration and a good mindset back into people.”

Students were able to gather and bring positive thoughts on Positive Thinking Day.
