Off campus housing is a topic that many students are looking into as the fall semester approaches. Stephenville is home to many apartment complexes and townhouses, the off-campus options are extensive.

Looking at the options for housing in Stephenville, there are a couple complexes that stick out as top choices for students moving off the Tarleton State University campus.

The first complex in our list of stand outs is Mustang Ranch. Mustang Ranch is a luxury student housing complex off Frey Street. It is approximately a six-minute drive from campus, and is conveniently located less than two minutes from Stephenville’s Walmart.

Mustang ranch offers five different floor plans, catered to your wants and needs. They offer several luxury perks, including a resort style pool, a computer lab, fitness center, clubhouse and a sand volleyball court.

Susannah Millerborg is a Tarleton kinesiology major that has lived at Mustang Ranch Apartments for six months. She has several things about Mustang Ranch and says that she would without a doubt recommend it to anyone looking to live off campus.

“My favorite things about Mustang is that all of the amenities and utilities are included in one price, and the fact that the complex is gated, so I always feel safe.” Millerborg said.

The second complex is one that is very popular amongst Tarleton students because of its extremely close proximity to campus.

The Edge on Washington is a student housing option that is located directly across from the Tarleton campus, within walking distance for students attending classes.

The Edge offers nine different floorplans ranging from $830 to $1,119. The amenities offered by The Edge include a clubhouse, resort style pool, an E-gaming lounge, study rooms, a cyber lounge and a mail room.

The Edge also places a lot of importance on roommate matching, so that Tarleton students can room with people who they either know, or find roommates with similar hobbies.

The third complex that seems to be a top option in Stephenville for off campus housing is Creekside Townhomes.

Creekside is a complex of two story townhouses, they offer six different floorplans, along with several different luxury amenities. These amenities include a shimmering pool, 24-Hour Fitness Center, clubhouse, coffee bar and several coin/card operated laundry centers.

These townhouses are located off of Lingleville Road, approximately nine minutes from the Tarleton campus, and almost directly across from the Tarleton Agriculture Center.

Kynlie Bogle is a Tarleton sophomore psychology major, who has lived at Creekside for six months, and has loved everything about living there.

“I have really enjoyed living at Creekside. The price I pay is a little high, because utilities are not included in rent, but I would say it's worth it for how nice the buildings and complex is,” Bogle said. “The apartments are clean and nice, and the clubhouse is a nice touch.”

The last off campus housing option isn’t one particular place, instead it is a reality company in Stephenville that rents various different apartments and homes. Haile and Company Real Estate is a company that is based in Stephenville that offers a variety of different places for rent.

There are many different off campus housing options for those looking to move away from dorm life. Through research and exploration, you are sure to find the perfect fit for you in Stephenville.

Colby Christian, an agribusiness major, lived in the Race Street Apartments, rented out by Haile and Company.

“My favorite part of the apartment was the cheap pricing and the proximity to church and school. I 100% got what I paid for and the quality was nice.” Christian said.
