Tarleton State Texans had lots to celebrate this homecoming.

Homecoming week is most students favorite time of the year. It’s full of tons of traditions, time with friends and lots of purple. This year students, faculty and alumni also got to celebrate 100 years of the Trogdon House as well as the Ten Tarleton Sisters (TTS).

The week started out with a memorial homecoming 5K on Saturday, Oct. 14. Following the run the Smokestack was lit and Texans were ready for a week full of fun.

Monday night was the Silver Bugle Hunt. This event is a scavenger hunt. The teams search for the silver bugle on campus by going through a list of clues. Midnight Madness was also on Monday.

“I went to Midnight Madness for the first time this year and I really liked it,” Elizabeth Wheat, sophomore at Tarleton said.

Launching of the ducks, Purple Pancakes and Walk Like a Sigma was on Tuesday.

Karson Miller, senior at Tarleton, had the most fun on Tuesday.

“My favorite event at homecoming this year was Purple Pancakes,” Miller said. “Launching of the ducks is fun, getting to write all your goals.”

Yell contest brings lots of Greek life together to perform at Yell contest

“Yell is hands down my favorite one,” Wheat said.

Following Yell the Plowboys beat the drum down Rudder Way.

Kaitlin Butts, Drake White and William Clark Green performed Thursday at the Purple Out Concert.

“I think it’s fun to see everyone participate and have the Tarleton spirt,” Miller said.

Friday night L.V. Risinger Memorial Bonfire was lit. It could see the fire for miles.

Saturday morning started with the parade open to everyone.

The week was wrapped up with tailgate and a Texan win.
