Goodbye from our editor-in-chief
Taite Read, Editor-In-Chief.

Author: Reese Keeling

BY TAITE READ / Editor-in-chief

During my time at the Texan News Service (TNS), I have held several positions including graphic designer, art director, managing editor which all led to my favorite position editor-in-chief.

I never knew how passionate I was about journalism and communications until I started at the TNS. It all started in my News Gathering and Writing class I took with Mr. Lewter, supervisor of the TNS.

I was nervous when I first applied not knowing that this was going to be where I met some of my best friends, learn from well-known journalists and get the chance to travel to learn more about the industry.

During my time I had the opportunity to travel to New York City for the College Media Conference, and several other places in Texas for the Texas Press Association and with the Texas Center of Community Journalism.

Our office atmosphere was different. The TNS has always felt like family, and we have always leaned on each other when needed and supported each other to be their best possible self.

Elizabeth Guajardo, former TNS editor-in-chief, helped me find a passion for writing and leadership.

Sydnie Grossnickle, TNS Alum, was once a leader and always a leader for TNS even after graduating she is always helping staff as much as she can.

Reese Keeling, thank you for being you and thinking outside of the box for all things design. She has been a great friend and always keeps me on my toes with her stories and ideas. I can’t wait to see how she grows and all the amazing things she will do.

Jolee Skinner is the next editor-in-chief with amazing writing and leadership skills. She brought amazing ideas to the office and loves the news industry more than anyone I know.

Michaela Dennis, Payton Marks, Copeland Welch, Jaxon Hansard, Emma VanBecelaere, and Haeley Carpenter I have enjoyed working with each of you and could not have asked for a better team and friends.

Mr. Lewter thank you for everything you have done to help TNS grow and teach our team how to be journalists but having fun while doing it.

I was truly blessed to work alongside everyone at the TNS and I am excited to see how they continue to grow at the best university.
