Winning a basketball game can simply come down to who makes more shots.

That was not in the travel bags for the Tarleton Texan women’s basketball team in their game at Utah Tech on Jan 27..

The Texans were 18% from 3-point range and 25% from the field in the 75-48 loss to the Trailblazers.

Tarleton did have a better start with Jakoriah Long letting off eight points of on her own, containing back-to-back threes and a finish at the rim.

Long finished the game with 12 points and was only one of two starters to finish the game with double-digit points. Backcourt mate Teresa Da Silva scored 13 points with multiple mid-range jumpers and corner threes to keep the Trailblazers guessing on the defensive end.

The purple and white were able to keep their consistent bench scoring and free-throw percentage.

The Texan bench was able to produce 18 points and appear formidable to the opposing Blazers when the shots did fall.

The poor purple shooting percentage kept the Texans out of this game.

Utah was able to capitalize on the poor perimeter defense being played by the Texans and splashed 11 threes to account for 33 of the 75 points scored in this Trailblazer victory.

This has been another team that Tarleton has played where a pair of sisters have been present on the court. Utah Tech twin sisters Maddie and Macie Warren were a part of the win over the Purple Pride of Stephenville. Maddie scored her career-high with 27 points, as opposed to her sisters’ 5 points.
