The Tarleton State University Rodeo Team will head to Sweetwater, Texas, to compete at the Ranger College Rodeo. The rodeo will start March 21 and conclude with the short-go on March 23.

They will compete against 15 other teams in the Southwest Region and each athlete from each college will be battling to make it back to the short-go on March 23.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are sitting first in the Southwest Region standings coming into the Ranger College Rodeo.

Athletes that are amongst the top five in their respective events are: Ira Dickenson, Saddle Bronc Riding, 865 points; Bailey Small, Saddle Bronc Riding, 670 points; Gus Gaillard, Saddle Bronc Riding, 410 points; Roedy Farrell, Bareback Riding, 515 points; Landris White, Steer Wrestling, 355 points; Daxton Hill, Team Roping Header, 270 points; Korbin Rice, Team Roping Header, 225 points; Cole Walker, Team Roping Heeler, 300 points; Jordan Driver, Barrel Racing, 470 points; Acey Pinkston, Barrel Racing, 300 points; Tori Brower, Goat Tying, 670 points; Rayme Jones, Goat Tying, 375 points; and Emily McDeavitt, Goat Tying, 335 points.

While this is only the second rodeo of the spring semester, these athletes only have three remaining rodeos after Ranger College to earn their spot in the top 15. Athletes ranking in the top 15 will compete at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, in June.

The rodeo team will travel to Snyder and Big Spring before concluding the series of spring semester rodeos right here, in the cowboy capital of the world. The Tarleton Stampede will be held April 18-20, with the location to be determined. Grab your boots, your best Tarleton shirt and come support these cowboys and cowgirls.
