After an 8-3 season in 2023 the Texans will be back for their first game of the 2024 season on Aug. 31. The Texans will play in their first ever match up with Baylor University at the McLane Stadium in Waco.

This will be the Texans first year with playoff eligibility and the first year with a new athletic director, after 30 years under Lonn Reisman. This season is expected to be one for the books.

The Texans will have six home games and six away games for a full 12-game-schedule. This will be the longest regular season in Tarleton football history.

The second game of the season will be held at the Husky Stadium in Houston against Houston Christian University.

The first home game will be against McNeese, who Tarleton won against in 2023 with a final score of 52-34. This will be the purple out game and the freshman run. This game will be presented by The Grove.

The Texan’s third away game will be against University of West Georgia on Sept. 21 at 3:30 p.m.

Family weekend comes late this year on Sept. 28 at Memorial Stadium. The Texans will be playing Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU). Tarleton played SLU in 2023 and held a win streak in their first and only matchup, 14-13.

Oct. 5 Tarleton will play Southern Utah University at the Eccles Coliseum in Utah. The Texans have played this team since 2021 and hold a 1-2 record against the team.

The homecoming game will be against Utah Tech University (UT) on Oct. 12. Tarleton holds a 2-2 record against UT and their last win against the team was in 2021.

The Texans will take the road again to Clarksville, Tennessee to play Austin Peay State University on Oct. 26. The Texans faced this team in 2006 and 2011 and held two losses.

The next two games will be weekend, back-to-back home games against Eastern Kentucky University and University of Central Arkansas. The legend game will be Nov. 2 and the military appreciation game will be Nov. 9.

The last away game of the regular season will be against our rival, Stephen F. Austin (SFA) at the Homer Bryce Stadium. The Texans have faced SFA in five matches, four away, and for the first time ever in 2023, at our home stadium. The Texans are 3-2 to SFA.

The last game of the regular season will be against Abilene Christian University (ACU) at home for senior day. The Texans have been playing ACU since 2004 and have played 12 games making our wins for losses 4-8.

The Texan football team is hoping to continue their season in the playoffs for their first eligible season being division 1. On Feb. 7, national signing day, 19 players were added to the roster for the 2024 season.
