Tarleton State University is a place of opportunity and support for its students. All across its campus, Tarleton has resources available for any circumstance during the college journey. The Dick Smith Library is one of these resources that greatly benefits those that use it.

Some of the resources available to students can include print or digital books, historical records and information on Tarleton, movies, newspapers, study rooms, computers, printers, calculators, cameras, recording equipment, manipulative models and numerous others.

Bethany Hooper is a circulation desk student worker in the library who enjoys the advantages it has to offer and expresses the advantages of the Dick Smith Library that she enjoys the most.

“I appreciate all of the obtainable knowledge that is in the books of the library and the other many resources available.” Hooper said. “Also, how friendly and helpful the staff can be to helping students find their resources and answering their questions.”

Austin Meyers, the serials associate at the library details its benefits for students.

“A huge benefit of the library is the ability to look back at old documents and be able to learn more about the university and its surrounding areas,” Meyers said. “While the library has a ton of academic value it also has recreational value and is a great gathering place.”

Leonardo Minero Jimenez is a junior at Tarleton and regularly uses the library and its many resources.

“As a student, the library helps me best in terms of its flexibility,” Jimenez said. “Also, I use the library database to help me find credible journals, and books to help me add to my reference pages when I write essays.”

Jimenez also enjoys the environment the library provides.

“It’s that place on campus where people can get together and work and it's quiet,” Jimenez said. “Or if you just want to have that quiet space to yourself to work there are rooms for that too.”
