Ty Myers performed at Twisted J Live in Stephenville, Texas on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, as part of his Let ‘Em Talk Tour with opener Morgan Layne.

Myers is a 17-year-old country singer, songwriter and guitarist from Austin, Texas. His show was sold out and brought out fans of all ages.

The doors opened at 7 p.m. and the opening act, Morgan Layne began performing a few minutes after 8 p.m. Layne is a student at Tarleton State University and sang many loved country songs such as, “I Never Lie,” by Zach Top,“Cover Me Up,” by Morgan Wallen and “Fishin’ in the Dark,” by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Emma Siar is a freshman at Tarleton and attended the concert with a group of her friends.

“She [Layne] did a great job of getting everyone excited for Ty to come out,” Siar said. “She had a great voice and you could tell that she has a deep love for country.”

Myers took the stage at approximately 9:45 p.m. and kicked off his performance with his song, “Down and Out.” He performed many of his hits such as, “Tomorrow’s Out of Sight,” “But Me,” “Tin Roof Talks,” “Worry is a Sickness,” “Drinkin’ Alone,” “Let ‘Em Talk” and “Ends of the Earth.”

Siar’s experience throughout the night only improved.

“I loved when he sang “Ends of the Earth.” I love that song so much,” Siar said. “It was so fun to watch him sing it live and hear everyone sing it with him.  It was a really cool experience. That was probably my favorite part of the show.”

Myers performed an unreleased song of his that he wrote a week prior to his concert in Stephenville, titled,“Hope Goes On.”

In addition to performing his songs, Myers also covered two of country singer and songwriter, Tyler Childers’, songs, including, “Feathered Indians” and “Whitehouse Road.”

“Well, I am a Tyler Childers fan, so I absolutely loved it, especially Feathered Indians, which is one of my favorite songs by him,” Siar said. “That style of country fits very well with his voice.  I would love to hear him sing more of Tyler Childers’s songs.”

Myers surprised the audience members by switching genres from country to pop and covering Justin Beiber’s “Love Yourself.”

Avery Shultz is a freshman at Tarleton and was able to listen to Myers’s Bieber cover.

“I did not like his Justin Bieber cover, because I just wanted to hear Ty Myer’s songs,” Shultz said. “He sounded good singing Justin Bieber, but I didn’t love that.”

Taylor Gutermuth is a freshman at Tarleton and has attended multiple country music concerts prior to Myers’s.

“The concert was a bit different than other country concerts that I have been to,” Gutermuth said. “I have been to Luke Combs, Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton concerts. I would probably compare this one on the lower end because it was not as upbeat or the same amount of energy as the other ones were, but I would still go back and see him again.”

While the concert was not as theatrical or elaborate as some, it provided fans an exciting night to be a part of.

“My expectation was that it was going to be a cool and chill experience since he is still a smaller artist, and to just vibe, nothing crazy, and that was definitely met,” Siar said. “I had fun but it was not overwhelming.”

Myers announced he was concluding the concert with his hit, “Tie That Binds,” and proceeded to leave the stage. Audience members broke into a chant shouting, “Encore!” and “One more!” He then returned to the stage one last time to cover the song, “Colt 45” by Afroman.
