Dozens of protestors gathered Monday evening at the Bosque River Centre in Stephenville, Texas to protest President Donald Trump’s massive deportation efforts.

The crowd gathered in the shopping center before marching up and down West Washington Street.

Protestors waved Mexican flags and held up signs saying “Protect People Not Borders,” “Viva Mexico” and even “Mexicans Aren't Going Anywhere,” a jab at President Trump’s now iconic MAGA slogan.

One of the signs also said: “Honk if you love Mexicans,” which drew several jeers from passing motorists as police escorted the crowd.

One of the protesters, Esther, explained the message of the group.

“I think people should really take time to educate themselves and figure out that nobody is illegal on stolen land. We were here first,” she said.  “These people, they feed you. The food in your grocery stores doesn't come from nowhere. (It) Comes from the hard work, and the hands and the blood and the sweat of people that look just like me.”

Protestor Ashley Valdez agreed.

“I’m here to stand up for the people that can't speak because they're too afraid of getting deported,” Valdez said.

Amanda Garcia, one of the group’s organizers, echoed Valdez.

“I think we should all gather together and bring awareness to all those immigrants who can't speak for themselves. I think this is a great way to start this, and just help out and speak out,” Garcia said.

These protests follow a host of executive orders from President Trump, which among many deportation-aiding efforts, declared a State of Emergency at the United States Southern Border and called for his administration to reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy.

Earlier today, Trump announced the move to end deportation protections for around 348,000 Venezuelans with Temporary Protected Status.

According to ICE, over 8,000 undocumented immigrants have been arrested since Trump took office.
