Cold weather is finally out of the forecast, and spring is finally in bloom, but while the ground was covered in white, the Texans were watching some of their favorite bad-weather movies.

According to a few Tarleton State University students, here are a handful of movies to watch when the weather is bad.

Spooky and scary movies are a great genre to binge during the cold season. The chilly and cloudy days provide the perfect ambiance for a good scare.

Frassel Bussell, a junior marketing major, loves to watch scary movies during bad weather days. One of his favorites is the “Scream” movie.

“Bad weather is perfect for scary movies as it sets the mood for the experience,” Bussell said. “‘The Scream’ movies may be a little gory at times for me, but overall, I think they are great because I can watch the whole series and make the bad-weather days not so boring.”

Some more scary movies that would be perfect to watch during bad-weather days are “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” in which a supposed dead man comes back to life, “The Substance,” a new horror film starring Demi Moore and “Heretic,” in which Hugh Grant stars.

Romantic comedy is another great genre to watch in the cold weather. The cold nights make nothing seem better than cuddling up on the couch and watching a heartwarming movie.

Trevor Rachaoo, a sophomore pre-nursing major, believes that rom-coms are the perfect movies to watch during bad-weather days.

“Just like the comfy feeling it gives me, whenever it's like raining and stuff, it's nice to watch a (rom-com) movie. It's like a comfort, I would say,” Rachaoo said.

A few great rom-coms to watch during a bad-weather day are “27 Dresses,” with everyone's favorite rom-com queen Katherine Heigl, “13 Going on 30,” the story about a girl who wants to grow up too fast and “The Princess Bride,” the beloved classic romance movie.

Action movies are also great to watch when you are stuck on the couch during these cold days. This thrilling, heart-racing drama can take anyone's mind off the bad weather outside.

Shelbey Chaney, a freshman agriculture business major, enjoys action movies on bad-weather days because they get her heart going while she is stuck inside.

“I like action movies during bad-weather days because it just gets my heart pumping. It makes me feel excited for the day even though outside's terrible, but I'm watching the movies, and I just feel so like, thrilled and excited,” Chaney said.

Some action movie recommendations are “Top Gun,” starring Tom Cruz, “Point Break,” with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves and “The Avengers,” another great action movie about everyone's favorite superheroes.

Drama movies are very binge-worthy, especially when the weather outside is less than ideal. A little controversy between the protagonist and the antagonist is sometimes just the trick to make you feel better when the weather outside brings you down.

Kate Schaefer, a sophomore communications major, loves drama movies during bad-weather days because they keep her on the edge of her seat.

“They are just so interesting and always involve some twist. They're perfect during bad-weather days because I always feel like I never know what's going to come next,” Schaefer said.

A few drama movie recommendations that always brighten my mood are “Lady Bird,” starring Saoirse Ronan, “The Menu,” directed by Mark Mylod and “Saturday Night,” a film about the back story of “Saturday Night Live.”
